Habits of our body include the ways that we think, beliefs that we hold, and ways we get stuck
into habits of movement - these patterns are ingrained in our somatic nervous system. This can
keep us locked in fear and pain, stuck where we no longer want to be. Our brains and bodies
become a storehouse of limiting thoughts, beliefs and actions. Often times these thoughts,
beliefs and actions are so deeply embedded that they are unconscious. When this happens we don’t
feel like we are in control of ourselves and we don’t understand what is keeping us stuck.

Using a unique combination of somatic coaching practices and somatic movement therapy you will

So this sounds awesome right, but how does it work exactly?
Somatic means to experience from within - a process of going inside to rediscover and harness our
innate potentiality for healing and change. It is a process of bringing awareness to the
conscious and unconscious parts of ourselves that keep us stuck.
In today’s’ world we live mostly in our heads. We think things through, focus on the past or
daydream the future without living in the present moment. We get caught up in the daily stress
and don’t often slow down to tune in to our hearts or our bodies to hear what they need and
want. The result is disembodiment - a lack of connection to the soma (our sensing, feeling
self-regulating body). This results in physical pain that we ignore or suffer through, and a
sense of disconnection from ourselves and our true desires.
Somatic practices allow us to tune back in to the soma, reclaiming the brain’s control over
choice and action. As we practice getting quiet we can then listen more clearly to our truest
needs and desires we can open up to new habits of movement and mind. This program uses a
combination of somatic movement therapy and somatic coaching to achieve this goal.
Somatic movement practices teach us how to relearn supportive habits of movement in our somas.
Somatic coaching is about tuning into to,the feelings and sensations in our bodies that guide us
to our deepest wisdom and knowing.

Carrie specializes in working with clients experiencing chronic or recurring pain. She
biopsychosocial model in working with clients using the techniques of somatic
re-education (brain retraining), pain and nervous system education, functional movement
re-education, breath retraining, pelvic rebalancing, yoga nidra and mind study to
restore nervous system imbalances due to stress, injury and disease.
Carrie has worked with thousands of clients and is respected for her warm, skilled,
